I had lots of fun this week. On Wednesday, we had the mother tongue cultural camp. There was a mixture of Chinese, Malays and Indians. In the morning, we had our own culture games in our respective places.
For Chinese, we had external vendors coming to our school and teaching us the art of China like calligraphy and rice drawing. In the process of learning, I realized that the Chinese culture is somewhat identical to other races. For example, rice drawing part of the Indian culture. There was a technique to everything that we did.
The first activity of that morning was paper cutting. We folded the paper into our favourite shape and started cutting from wherever we wanted. My work piece came out with a star in the middle and with diamond shapes covering the sides of the star. I had lots of fun cutting it especially when the cut paper flies out after cutting. People in China used to paper cutting and hanging them by the door.
Later, we did calligraphy. We used the paintbrush and drew lots of pictures. However, I drew only the fishes and water plant moving around it, as we did not have much time. After the tea break, we had rice drawing. We used the toothpicks and put our drawing together. There were lots of different colours. It took up a lot of our time. As I was impatient, I poured the rice onto my drawing and used the toothpick to put it in order. It did not turn out nice. However, I did not mind at all because I just wanted it to be presentable.
After lunch, it was the time for the different races to gather together for multi-racial games. There were rice ball making, speaking in different languages, paper cutting etc. We had to get into groups of 9 and each group must consist of Chinese, Malays and Indians. We formed our group in no time and gathered together to get prepared for the game. It was really exciting and thrilling. We started our games. I had many chops as I did well and some chops are because of my friends. I am really thankful to them for helping me. It is really a friend in need and friend indeed. I tried my best to complete all the chops but I could not. I was left with two chops. I submitted my score sheet and was surprised when I got the second. My best friend cheered for me. I was really elated upon receiving the prize. It was the best day in my whole week although I was wearied out during this week.
